It's Been a Few Days

Well what can I say, this is harder much harder than it sounds. I would like to thank Stephanie for posting a comment. It is nice that someone else is reading.

Well on to the news. No weight loss yet. I am still lingering around the 260 mark, but I must say that I have not done a great job changing my eating habits.

I have been to the Fitness Center 6 out of the last 7 days.

Here are today's stats.

Rowing Machine: 10 minutes / 2045 strides / 115 calories (Only the second time I have reached 2000 strides.

Treadmill: 15 minutes /Jogged .5 miles, Walked .5 miles / 100 calories (Hopefully my jogging distance will increase soon)

Elliptical Machine: 40 Grueling Minutes / 3 miles / 600 calories (I was off work today so I spent a little extra time on the Elliptical)

HandBike: 10 minutes / .20 miles / 150 calories

Total Calories: 965 YEAH!

My wife and I did really well this past week eating at home. We ate at home every night. Even though I did put on a pout session one night I am glad that Diane stood her ground.

On another note, Diane has started back at the gym. She does between 30 and 45 minutes of light cardio 4 days a week and goes to an aerobics class for pregnant women on the other days.

Hopefully the next post will not be as far away as the previous.

End of a great year / Beginning of a new era

Well the big 04 is almost over. I have thought about many things that have happened in the past year and I realize that things can't be changed that have already happened, but hopefully I have learned enough from my mistakes that I will make better decisions in 05. That's the constructivist in me. Learn from my own mistakes.

Went to the fitness center today again.

Here are the stats:

1. Rowing Machine: 10 minutes / 1954 strides / 105 calories
2. Treadmill: 15 minutes / jogged .5 miles, walked .5 miles / 100 calories
3. Elliptical Machine: 30 minutes / 2.5 miles / 500 calories
4. Hand Bike: 10 minutes / .25 miles / 135 calories

Total Calories Burned: 840 calories

Another sucky weigh in though: 260.5

Due to the new year holiday tomorrow the fitness center will not be open. Hopefully I can motivate myself into walking about 4 miles around the neighborhood. The center will open back up on Sunday and I will definitely be there. The real test as said before comes on Monday morning.

Goals for the new year.

1. Get closer to God
2. Lose 60 lbs.
3. Reduce Blood Pressure.
4. Reduce Cholesterol Levels.
5. Become a better husband.
6. Get the nursery finished.
7. Become a better leader.
8. Follow the golden rule.
9. Become a gym rat.
10. Leave the stress at work.
11. Leave the work at work.
12. Cook more meals at home.


Well I could go on, but these are going to be difficult enough to manage.

Short But Sweet

Got a late start blogging tonight so this one's short. I had a pretty good day today.

Went to the fitness center.

Treadmill: 18 minutes / jogged .5 miles, walked .75 miles / 120 calories
Elliptical Machine: 30 minutes / 2.5 miles / 500 calories
Handbike: 10 minutes / .2 miles / 120 calories

Total Calories: 845 calories

Weigh In: 259.6 :(

Taking a Step in the Right Direction

Maybe this post will go through. Don't you just love it when your internet connection crashes when you are typing something. (You may not understand if you are not using dialup)
I will definitely make sure I start saving.

Anyway today was my first trip back to the fitness center in quite a while. Over the last 4 months I have probably been there a total of 5 times. It felt good to get back into the swing of things, but man was it rough. Since I have a lot of weight to lose (60 lbs.) I have decided to concentrate on cardio until I get into a little better shape before I start weights.

Here is today's workout routine:

1. Rowing Machine: 10 minutes / 1784 strides / 100 calories
2. Treadmill: 15 minutes / jogged .5 miles, walked .7 miles / 100 calories
3. Elliptical Machine: 30 minutes / 2.5 miles / 500 calories
4. Hand Bike: 10 minutes / .25 miles / 110 calories

Total Calories Burned: 810 calories

For breakfast I had a granola bar, 1 L of Crystal Light, and 1 L of H2O while I was working out.
I had a late lunch due to having to run some errands after working out: Veg/Beef soup, green beans, tropical fruit. Had a late afternoon snack consisting of a bowl of rice crispies with splenda and skim milk. For supper tonight we are having leftover spaghetti, so all in all today was a pretty good day foodwise. This is definitely better than my usual meals consisting of all of my fav. foods especially french fries.

One of the better events today was my weigh in after the workout: 259 lbs. Hey during the Christmas season I will take a one pound weight loss anytime, but I know I can do much better. I have done much better.

Even though it was nice to see some weight loss and work out it was also bittersweet. I can't help but think back to last year when I was exercising religiously each day and weighed in at 227 lbs, but I just have to remember to take my journey one day at a time and remind myself that I am taking a step in the right direction.

1 lb down and 59 lbs to go.

You've gotta start somewhere and some time!

Man what a year. The big 04 is winding down and it's time to reflect on what was and what could have been. I do have to say that one of the happiest moments came this year when my wife and I found out we were going to have a baby girl. This is our first child and I am so excited about the new life that God is blessing us with. Just seeing that ultrasound and the baby moving made me have a whole new outlook on life. One of the things that I have been slack on and need to work hard on is my health and lifestyle. As of right now I weigh about 260 lbs. That would be 1,040 sticks of butter if anyone was wondering. Over the last two years I had lost from 280 to 230, but unfortunately I have let the pounds creep back on. I don't want to be an unhealthy and overweight parent, and I certainly do not want to miss my daughter's happiness in her future endeavors, so I am making a committment right now at 10:00 pm to lose weight and become healthy not only for my future daughhter and my wife but for myself also. My plan is to count my points on a daily basis and to exercise at the fitness center. I will be weighing myself often and recording the progress on this site with pictures of progress. Prayers would be greatly appreciated.
